This beautiful house is located in the external walls of an ancient hamlet dating back to an Etruscan settlement. It was first rebuilt in the 17th century as a family residence. Antica Magione has been completely renovated, and is now bordered by other buildings also set into the hamlet walls. There is a circular village road that runs around the outer perimeter of the hamlet and does not get much traffic because it is only used by hamlet inhabitants.
The house is elegantly and comfortably furnished with beautiful antique pieces. A private entrance leads into the open-plan living/dining room with satellite TV and a DVD player. There is a modern, fully-equipped kitchen corner with gas range, electric oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and raised fireplace for grilling. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor and each has an ensuite bathroom. There is a formal living room with a fireplace also on this floor.
The garden with swimming pool is across the small road from the house. Olive groves, vineyards and wheat fields surround the garden and there are views from the walled city of Monteriggioni up to the Chianti hills. There is a covered building with a barbeque and a table that is ideal for al fresco dining. Another garden and furnished terrace area are located at the top of the path leading to the house, and are fenced-in to ensure maximum privacy.
The property is located about 4 miles from the basic shops and facilities of Colle Val d’Elsa. Other nearby towns include Castellina in Chianti at 10.5 miles, Siena at 9 miles, San Gimignano at 11 miles, and Florence at 29 miles. The house is very close to an entrance of the Siena-Florence superstrada, which makes it an excellent location for touring.
Antica Magione is equipped with baby cots and high chair, CD player, radio clocks in the bedrooms, hair dryer, and screens on all the windows. Maid service is provided for three hours a day, three times a week at an extra cost. Laundry service is available at an extra cost. Central heating is payable on consumption. Cooking lessons and typical Tuscan breakfasts and dinners can be arranged, as well as a painting course.
