Set in the middle of Tuscany just 12 miles from the beautiful city of Siena, Barbicciaia is in the perfect position for seeing all this fabulous region has to offer. The farmhouse is on a large fenced property in the forested hills with stately trees and a large garden surrounding the house. The location affords guests privacy and tranquility. The property feels secluded but is within walking distance to Rosia, a quaint town with shops and restaurants. A footpath leads to a nearby Etruscan necropolis under excavation.

Barbicciaia is traditionally furnished with local antiques and comfortable furniture. Terracotta tiles grace the floors and wood beams criss-cross the ceilings in typical Tuscan fashion. A large living room provides ample space for gathering and relaxing. There is a fireplace for chilly nights, along with satellite television and DVD and CD players for entertainment. Internet access is also provided.

A cozy dining room is separated from the living space by a graceful brick archway. Both rooms have doors leading out to the garden and terrace. The kitchen also has a dining table for casual meals or coffee chats. Every necessary appliance has been provided, including a dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, American and Italian coffeemakers, and a toaster, along with plenty of cookware and dishes. For grill enthusiasts, a barbecue is available outside.

The three bedrooms are located upstairs. Two are doubles, and one has twin beds that can be connected upon request. They are spacious and well furnished. Two bathrooms -one with a bathtub the other with a shower - are upstairs near the bedrooms. A third bathroom with a shower is located on the side of the two-car garage, where there is also a washing machine. Two of the bedrooms have glass doors leading to terraces.

The outdoors space is a highlight of the property with spacious lawns, paved terraces, and pretty views of the hills. A large swimming pool takes the edge off hot summer days, and a pergola provides shade. There are plenty of deck chairs for relaxing and sunbathing. The owners have provided lots of outside entertainment with a tennis court, volleyball court, and a ping-pong table, making Barbiccaia ideal for an active group or family.

The owner lives nearby and will cook for guests on request. Mandatory maid service is provided for two hours, three times a week, for an extra charge.

In addition to being able to walk to a supermarket, guests can also walk to a bus stop and get frequent service to Siena. Bus service from this stop is also available to Florence and the coast.
