Special Characteristics

A delightful and well-decorated house set amid vineyards and olive groves on a hill overlooking the countryside stretching from San Gimignano to the soft valleys of the Chianti Fiorentino. The house is well-located for touring Tuscany and is just a mile from the town of Tavarnelle, which provides bus service to the major cities in the region such as Siena and Florence.

Casa Ida develops on two levels, each with its own private entrance. Both floors have access to the well-maintained furnished garden spaces outdoors. The house was restored in 2005, and the rooms are open and luminous with a terrific modern feel. The air-conditioned first floor, featuring wood ceilings and marble floors, has an open plan dining room with fireplace and fully-equipped kitchen corner. Large windows bring in the light and provide scenic views, and a door in the dining room opens onto an external balcony leading to the front garden. The living room, with satellite TV, has large windows looking out over the garden and the views, as well as sliding glass doors with direct garden access.

The bedrooms and bathroom are located on the lower floor. The double bedroom has doors leading out into the garden. The twin bedroom can become a double upon request. The modern bathroom has a bathtub with a jacuzzi.

The pool is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by lawns and with a spectacular view over the surrounding countryside. On one side of the pool, near the steps, are four hydro massage jets. There are also furnished cotta terraces and a barbeque alongside the pool. The pool is shared with the property owners, who live in a separate house on the grounds with a separate access; their house is hidden from view by a terraced, hanging garden. The owners are unobtrusive but speak English and are available to assist guests. They also sell their own olive oil and wine.

Typical Tuscan dinners can be arranged if requested at the time of booking. Electricity is an extra cost based on consumption, as is heating and firewood.
