Certosina is a beautiful rustic villa built on the side of a hill and surrounded by vineyards and woods. It is located in the heart of the Chianti region, and offers wonderful opportunities for day trips to picturesque towns and vineyards. Gaiole in Chianti is about two miles away, and Siena is 18 miles away

The villa is part of an agricultural estate that produces wine and extra virgin olive oil. It was constructed of stone and develops on several levels. Among the major reasons for Certosina's wide popularity and charm are the light-filled rooms due to all of the glass-arched doors that lead outside, the spaciousness of the villa, and the tasteful and comfortable furniture on the property. The interiors are filled with wood beam ceilings, typical Tuscan terracotta floors, and brick archways.

On the first floor, several glass-arched doors provide various entrances into the villa. One leads to a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, oven, and various small electrical appliances. A powder room is off of the kitchen, along with a utility room with a washing machine. A door in the kitchen leads to a charming dining room with a fireplace and typical Tuscan furniture. Another set of glass doors leads into a living room with a fireplace and inviting couches and chairs. On this floor, there is also a TV room with a satellite TV, CD player, and a telephone.

A flight of brick stairs leads to the second floor, which is where three of the bedrooms are located. The bedrooms on this floor include a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, which share a bathroom with both a bathtub and a separate shower. A bedroom with a furnished terrace, which can be either a double or a twin, has its own bathroom with a bathtub and a separate shower. All of these bedrooms have screens on the windows.

Certosina has several spacious paved terraces surrounding it. One beautiful terrace has a vine-covered pergola that is ideal for "al fresco" dining while enjoying views of vineyards and hills. Another terrace has a huge umbrella and barbecue, and overlooks the swimming pool. The second twin bedroom with its own bathroom (shower) is reached by a flight of stairs from this terrace to a landing with a door into the bedroom. This bedroom also has window screens.

The beautiful oval swimming pool (16x40 feet) is below the villa, set into a panoramic position with terrific views. It is fully furnished with lounge chairs. Near the villa there is a private parking area.

There is maid service provided three times a week for an additional cost; the maid service is mandatory. If booked ahead of time, a cook is also available to prepare meals.
