The farmhouse Il Casato is in the Val D’Orcia, close to the towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Monticchiello. It was constructed at the beginning of the 19th century, and housed the workers who tended the vineyards and olive groves that surround the property today. After being abandoned, it was restored in 1998 by the owners of the estate on which it is situated. Extra virgin olive oil and Chianti wine are produced on the estate and are available for tasting and purchase by the guests.

Original stone and bricks were used in the restoration, and the farmhouse has typical terracotta flooring throughout, as well as beamed ceilings. The interiors include antiques and Tuscan wood furniture. Its large size (approximately 3700 square feet) has resulted in very spacious rooms with wonderful views of the “Crete Senese” (clay hills) for which the Val D’Orcia is known, and vistas and plantings from the many windows of the farmhouse.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom (5 are ensuite) and the large living room on the first floor has a fireplace. One of the double bedrooms is a master suite with a Jacuzzi tub. The garden plantings are extensive. The swimming pool is very large, and has a waterfall and hydro massage corner.

There is an Annex next to Il Casato with a dining room, kitchen, double bedroom, twin bedroom and bathroom. It is available only for overflow guests at Il Casato.

Il Casato has a telephone, satellite TV, washing machine, dishwasher, commercial espresso machine, and central heating. Maid service is provided for two hours per day, and a cook can be provided at an additional cost. An English-speaking rental manager is available to provide assistance with restaurant and sightseeing information throughout the rental period.
