This stone farmhouse dating to the 15th century is nestled in the spectacular Chianti countryside. The farmhouse has been transformed into a comfortable villa with spacious interiors and traditional decoration. It features two lovely terraces, perfect for al fresco meals, that overlook the well kept garden.

A large sitting room is located on the first floor. A large dining hall opens onto a terrace for outdoor dining and relaxing. There is also a kitchen and a small sitting room with stairs to a study/dining room that opens also onto the garden. The bedrooms are on the second floor, as well as a large sitting room with a fireplace. Two double bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. A double bedroom and 3 twin bedrooms (one of which is small) share two bathrooms. One twin bedroom is accessible only by a very steep wooden ladder.

A villa manager prepares breakfast and another meal (either lunch or dinner) six days a week. In Low Season, this cooking service is available on request. She is a talented cook and gives cooking demonstrations of typical Tuscan cuisine. She is very helpful, and is available to assist guests during their stay. Maid service is provided 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Il Prato is an ideal base for exploring the Chianti Classico region's medieval villages, incredible landscapes and renowned vineyards. It is located just over a mile from Gaiole in Chianti, the nearest village with shops. Tennis courts are about two miles away in the town of Radda in Chianti. Siena is 16 miles away, and Florence is under an hour's drive.
