The 2000-acre agricultural estate includes a main villa with a world-class formal garden, and a medieval castle. Eight buildings have been restored and refurbished for rental at a high standard, and none of them are in view of each other.

There are swimming pools for guests, a tennis court, and walking trails on the estate.

Extra services such as having a cook prepare typically Tuscan meals, dinner on the night of arrival, and laundry service are available at an additional cost.

The Farmhouses:

Santa Maria (sleeps 6/7), lies tucked against wooded hills and commands a full view over the Orcia valley. Terraced orchards and fields slope down towards the road, and the swimming pool and parking areas have been placed on the terraces out of view of the farmhouse but only a few minutes walk away. Santa Maria has been decorated in the original colors of the Sienese farms; its furniture is local, simple and attractive, with a few choice antiques. On the first floor is a large living room with fireplace, a dining area/kitchen which opens up onto an outside loggia, and a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The second floor has a master double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, a single bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and a double bedroom that has its own entrance to the garden. Restoration was completed in 2001, and the views from all parts of the house are wonderful.

Casaccia (Sleeps 10) is an independent farmhouse on its own overlooking the magnificent Orcia Valley. It was completely restored in 2006. On the first floor, there is a double bedroom and bathroom, and a kitchenette. There is a large living room with fireplace, spacious kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms on the second floor. The garden has a table for meals outside. A new swimming pool (15x36 feet) is in the garden near the farmhouse. Casaccia is available for rental from mid June to mid August.

Fonte al Gozzo (Sleeps 8) sits just in front of the famous cypress road that winds up a hill, one of the most photographed views of Tuscany. Fruit trees, olive groves, wheat fields and cypresses surround the farmhouse. In the main house, there are 3 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, two living rooms with fireplaces, and a kitchen. There is also a double bedroom with bath in a small building in a nearby part of the garden. Fonte al Gozzo has its own swimming pool.

Montauto (Sleeps 10) is on its own in the midst of olive trees and Mediterranean “macchi” (scrub) and offers spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside. It is a jewel of local Tuscan architecture, built in traditional local stone around an enclosed courtyard. Special attention has been given to the garden areas around the house, and there are several areas for sitting and dining. The house has been restored to the standard of an elegant, private mansion with all modern conveniences. There are 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 2 single bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, along with an open kitchen and dining room with fireplace, a large living room with fireplace, and a laundry. Montauto has its own swimming pool.

Gonzola (sleeps 10) lies in the middle of open farmland surrounded by wheat and sunflowers on one side, and a small forest and the famous "Crete Senesi" on the other. It is a long rectangular house of local stone, in the midst of flowers and herbs, and shaded by many oak trees which grow in front of the farmhouse and along a nearby stream. The main floor has a large central living room with fireplace, a dining kitchen with fireplace, 2 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, and 2 twin bedrooms and 1 bathroom. On the lower floor, the former cow barn has been turned into a large summer living room with 7 windows, and there is a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The rooms have been painted in soft hues, inspired by traditional Tuscan color schemes. Next to the large swimming pool is the former chicken/rabbit coop, now a poolhouse with a bathroom. A very lovely feature is the vine-covered pergola near the poolhouse with a large table for alfresco dining. Gonzola was restored in 2001.

La Sassaia (Sleeps 14) is a comfortable, spacious and sunny family house in an area of the estate near fields of wheat and sunflowers. Restored in 2001, it has many features of the typical Tuscan farmhouse. On the first floor where the cows were kept, there is now a spacious and sun-filled summer living room. There is also a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom for easy access. The upper floor has a central living room with fireplace looking out over trees with windows on both sides, and a kitchen/dining room that is appealing to cooks. There are 2 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, and two twin bedrooms that share a bathroom. Next to the main house is an independent building converted into a loft-like "dependance," with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room with an open space kitchen, and massive antique beams running from one end of the house to the other. La Sassaia has its own swimming pool.

The Apartments:

Chiarentana was once a medieval fortress, then a main farm building on the estate, and now houses 6 apartments for rent. It is a large square building with climbing roses, lavender and deliciously scented lime tree. Each apartment has its own tables and chairs in the garden surrounding Chiarentana. Great care has been taken to turn the different apartments into welcoming and attractive places, with a mixture of comfortable furniture and antique pieces, lovely interior decoration and modern appliances. The six apartments sleep 2, 4 or 6 people.

Belvedere: This large two-story building is covered with vines and flowers, and enjoys magnificent views over the Orcia Valley. It has a beautifully maintained garden with stunning views of the medieval castle on the estate, and a generous swimming pool used exclusively by the guests staying in the two spacious Belvedere apartments. The restoration has been very carefully undertaken to preserve the terracotta floors and original wooden ceiling beams, resulting in an overall atmosphere of rustic charm. The bedrooms have been decorated in simple country style and have a fresh and cheerful atmosphere. Glass doors lead out into the garden, which has tables and chairs for al fresco meals. Belvedere 1 sleeps 5, with a large living/dining room with an open fireplace, a smaller sitting room with fireplace, fully fitted kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, and 2 bathrooms. Belvedere 2 sleeps 8, and has a large living room with open fireplace, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, 4 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 1 extra WC.

Castelluccio: There is a medieval castle on the grounds of La Foce. Special concerts are held in the Castelluccio courtyard in July. Two nicely furnished apartments are on the second floor, and they give guests the feeling of living in a castle. Tartaruga sleeps 5, with a living/ dining room, small kitchen, 1 twin bedroom, 1 bathroom, as well as a double bedroom with terrace, an adjoining study with a bed, and an ensuite bathroom. Etrusco sleeps 2, with a living/dining room with kitchenette, a double bedroom with fireplace and painted ceiling, and a bathroom.
