La Sorgente Orvieto is a spectacular old stone villa located in a tranquil country setting. It is situated amid five acres of manicured lawns, gardens, and olive groves, and provides magnificent views of the hilltop town of Orvieto.
The villa contains every modern comfort and is decorated in superb taste. Wood-beamed ceilings, hand-made terracotta floors, and softly painted walls set off the exquisite furnishings, including antique furniture, porcelain displays, oil paintings, Oriental rugs, and interesting decorative objects.
The villa’s glass-enclosed living room facing the lawns, lake, and Orvieto has ample seating and many beautiful decorations. Doors lead to the garden areas and outdoor dining area in back of the villa. The large dining room off the entrance hall has a table for ten and a sitting area in front of the fireplace, and an upright piano. A very large eat-in kitchen is a cook’s dream, well-furnished with many small appliances as well as a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine.
The master bedroom suite in the villa has a queen-size bed, ample closets, and an ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub. The twin bedroom, which can be made into a double upon request, has an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub. There is also a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.
The two guest cottages are close to the main villa on opposite sides of the property. The Guest Cottage has a comfortable living room with a fireplace and original terracotta floor. There is a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and hand-held shower attachment. The more simply furnished Lake House is a large room with a double bedroom and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and shower attachment.
The swimming pool area provides a view of Orvieto and has a lovely vine-covered pergola for relaxing in the shade on comfortable lawn furniture. Walking around the property is a sheer delight, as one is completely surrounded by nature.
The villa is equipped with a telephone/fax, satellite TV, DVD, CD player, and independent heating.
Orvieto is an excellent base for touring Umbria, Tuscany, and Lazio. Rome can be reached in one hour by train. Orvieto itself is a medieval town and features one of the most magnificent cathedrals in all of Italy.
