Montecucco is a well-restored 19th century farmhouse with unique stone architecture that displays its evolution over several centuries. It is reached by 2 ½ miles of country road, and is perched on a hill overlooking a wide valley. There are panoramic views of olive groves and vineyards, hilltop towns, and the tallest mountain in Tuscany. The swimming pool and outside eating area take full advantage of the fabulous views.
It is situated on an agricultural estate where wheat is grown and olive oil and wine are produced. Its location offers the benefits of total privacy, as the nearest village is a 20-minute drive away. Montalcino is close by, and guests can easily take day trips to other towns of Southern Tuscany such as Pienza and Montepulciano; Siena is less than an hour away.
The restoration was done to a high standard, and the decorations are in exquisite taste. There are a few choice antiques, comfortable sofas and chairs, attractive fabrics from famous weavers, and tiles from the Amalfi Coast. The stone architecture, with its arches and wall niches, helps to create atmosphere, and the old farmhouse doors create an original feeling. All the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.
On the first floor is a large eat-in kitchen with doors leading to the outside and a garden with a vinecovered pergola. On this floor is a sitting area which serves as a family room with a TV, and a double bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The second floor contains a spacious living room, a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms (all with ensuite bathrooms).
Montecucco is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, fans, CD/stereo, satellite TV and central heating. Guests are provided with a cell phone.
