The New Old River apartment is located in the Palazzo Bardi on the south side of the Arno River, facing the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo. The building is conveniently located for sightseeing in central Florence.
The original building structure of the palazzo dates back to the 15th century, when the banks of the river were flanked by buildings belonging to patrician families such as the Bardi family.
The walls of the entrance hallway were painted to resemble a forest clearing, complete with cypress trees, oak-leafed branches, and birds in flight across a clear blue sky. The room is furnished with a mirror and a glass-topped table and chairs. Like the rest of the apartment, parquet floors line the hall leading to the spacious living room. The contrast of patterns between the curtains, two armchairs, and the sofa create a warm ambience in the room. The window of the living room overlooks the river, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery.
A dining table seating six is in the living room. Opposite this room is the spacious kitchen, which has a table providing ample workspace.
The apartment has two twin bedrooms (beds can be united upon request). One has a small balcony overlooking the Arno. At the end of the hallway, the master double bedroom shares the living room’s view of the river and other sights. Furnished in rich reds and patterned prints, the room also has a large wardrobe with ample hanging space for clothes. A second twin bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower. It is furnished in pastel pinks and greens, faces south, and overlooks the Via de’ Bardi. The other bathroom is in the hallway and has a bathtub and shower attachment.
The apartment has air conditioning, satellite TV, a telephone, gas stove, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, and independent heating. The building has an elevator and daytime porter service.
