Rocca 2 is a honey-hued stone farmhouse in the heart of Chianti. It is one of two comfortably furnished apartments on the grounds of a farm estate, and was restored in 2004. The owners occupy the main part of the farmhouse and the estate produces excellent Chianti Classico wine and olive oil. Vineyards, olive groves and forests surround the estate. The apartment has central gas heating (extra charge), radio/CD player, brick barbeque, baby cot (one high chair is available as well), and an American coffee machine.
Guests at Rocca 2 are welcomed by a two-level flagstone terrace that is hemmed in by low stone walls and flower beds, offering a private, tranquil spot to unwind. There is a fountain and a barbecue grill, along with a bistro table and chairs. Views extend to the nearby town, where guests will find shops, cafes and restaurants.
The sunny kitchen area has lofty vaulted ceilings lined with wood beams and antique brick tiles. It is well stocked with everything for meal preparation, including a four-burner gas range, oven, refrigerator with freezer, and dishwasher. The open room boasts comfortable sofas and a dining table that seats six, and has a large arched panoramic glass door which provides a lot of natural light. Down a hallway is a spacious double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The other large double bedroom uses a bathroom with a shower next to it. A washing machine is located in a utilities room. All windows at Rocca 2 have screens.
There is a swimming pool (18x42 feet) with a solarium terrace that is shared with the other apartment (Rocca 1) and the owners.
Guests of Rocca 2 can wander the picturesque countryside, and can walk uphill to Castellina in Chianti in about one mile. The medieval splendor of Siena is just eleven miles away. There are country restaurants, cypress-lined roads, and beautiful hill towns all around.
