San Piero Terre is a small hamlet of three buildings in the heart of Chianti, near vineyards and olive groves. Situated on a hillside, there are lovely views out to vineyards and the Chianti hills, and a large swimming pool is surrounded by well-maintained gardens. It is in walking distance of Gaiole in Chianti, with stores and restaurants. This property is ideal for exploring Tuscany, as it is located 15 miles from Siena and 30 miles from Florence.
The main Villa has a traditional Tuscan country villa feel, with high ceilings and large rooms. The restoration of the first floor in 2000 refreshed the walls and ceilings, restored the kitchen, and installed new appliances throughout. The first floor entrance hall leads to a large living room with a fireplace that has a door to the garden. The very large kitchen features an original country fireplace and vaulted brick ceiling done in an interesting pattern. The dining room is next to the kitchen and can seat up to 16.
A flight of old stone steps leads up to the second floor and a large sitting room with a fireplace, antique furniture, oriental rugs, and ceiling-high bookcases. The six bedrooms are comfortably furnished in traditional Italian style. There are four bathrooms on this floor; two are ensuite in double bedrooms, including the spacious and sunny master double bedroom. A double bedroom and three twin bedrooms share two bathrooms. One twin is considered a "children's room."
The property is equipped with a telephone, satellite TV, dishwasher, fans in all bedrooms, washing machine and WiFi on the terrace. The gated grounds have a "bocce" court, and a small field for playing soccer.
A garden area with a trellis separates the main villa from the Cottage. The Cottage has one very large room on the first floor filled with beamed ceilings and wooden posts that give it a cozy, rustic feeling. There are couches by the fireplace, and a dining room table next to the nicely decorated kitchen corner. The double bedroom, twin bedroom, and small bathroom are on the second floor. The bedrooms have slanted roofs and the twin is more suitable for children/teenagers.
Another small building near the villa, the Dependance, has one double or twin bedroom and one single bedroom to accommodate 3 people. There is also a small kitchenette area with a sofa and TV. The Dependance was restored in 2004, and is comfortably decorated.
The villa for 12 can be rented alone, but the Cottage and the Dependance are never rented separately. Each one or both can be rented with the Villa for a maximum of 16 people on the property. The family housekeeper also lives on the property (with two quiet dogs) in a separate house on the spacious grounds, and is available to assist guests with cleaning at an additional charge. A cook is available for an additional charge. Upon request, a welcome dinner can be arranged.
