Villa Etrusca is a magnificent property located ten miles from the historic town of Orvieto. A stunning old stone villa, owned by an interior designer, it is set on 17 acres of rolling meadows and woods, surrounded by wonderful gardens and olive groves. The property is a very special one, which appeals to discerning guests looking for luxury accommodations that emphasize quality, comfort, period pieces, local materials in a restoration, and very tasteful design. It is in a location that provides an opportunity to enjoy a unique and beautiful area of Italy.
An outside entry patio leads to a light-filled entrance hall, which provides a central core for the first floor. There is a sun-filled library with an antique fireplace. A guest bathroom is accessed from the entrance hall, as is the laundry room with a heavy-duty washer and a dryer. A stone central staircase leads from the entrance hall to the two upper floors.
From the entrance hall, wide oak doors lead to the living room, decorated with family antiques, comfortable seating areas, precious porcelain, and a magnificent stone fireplace. The room measures 20' by 45' and is awash in light through southern windows and a central French door leading to the front lawn. Directly adjacent to the living room is a dining room for 14, filled with interesting antique furniture and works of art. Both rooms have windows facing the lawn and trees on the southern front of the house, which is graced by an arched wisteria pergola that covers one of the outside sitting areas.
A door in the dining room opens into the all- stainless designer kitchen, fully equipped with refrigerator-freezer, dishwasher, gourmet gas stove with oversized oven and extractor fan, as well as a table for informal dining. All of the rooms on the first floor have doors opening to the outside, which enhances the feel of being in the middle of the Umbrian countryside.
The main Villa sleeps 12 people in six bedrooms which are beautifully furnished. All the bedrooms have fans, and every bedroom has custom beds with linen sheets. There are six full ensuite bathrooms with luxury fixtures by well-known bathroom designers. Two of the bedrooms are on the second floor (master king-size double bedroom, double or twin bedroom) and four bedrooms are on the third level-- two mansard rooms in the front that can be twin or double bedrooms, and two double bedrooms in the back. All four bedrooms on the third level have air conditioning.
If there are 14 or 16 guests in a group, Villa Etrusca offers the possibility of expansion. The Casetta, sleeping four people, is attached to the main villa. The Casetta consists of two bedrooms (a king-size bedroom and a twin or double bedroom), each with its own ensuite bathroom. The twin/double bedroom can only be accessed by walking through the king-size bedroom; this could work well for families. The Casetta is never rented separately from the main villa.
Villa Etrusca has a large 20 ft x 60 ft swimming pool, deep enough for diving at one end. The pool can be heated for an extra charge .The pool is set among olive terraces, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and gardens, and a wide pergola by its side offers shade. The villa also offers several other charming outside areas for dining or relaxing.
Villa Etrusca is equipped with top level kitchen appliances (including dishwasher microwave, blender, food processor, American coffee maker), washing machine, clothes dryer, pool towels, telephone, satellite TV, CD player, hair dryers in all bathrooms, fans in all bedrooms, screens on all windows, telephone, WI-FI internet access, baby crib and high chair, air conditioning in four bedrooms, and central heating. Maid service is included for six days a week.
The location of Villa Etrusca provides some excellent opportunities for sightseeing and day trips. It is 20 minutes away from Orvieto, one of Italy's most unique and interesting cities, which has deep Etruscan roots. The villa is located very close to the borders of two other regions in Italy-Tuscany and Lazio-and is ideally situated for visiting the towns and villages of these regions as well as Umbria. Orvieto's train station, on the main train line to Rome and Florence, is 20 minutes away, as is the A-1 Autostrada. Guests can easily drive to Siena, passing the famous wine centers of Montepulciano and Montalcino, and visit the well-known towns of Umbria, such as Todi (45 minutes) Spoleto (1 hour) and Perugia (1.5 hours).
Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Italy with its charming medieval town of Bolsena, is 3 miles from the villa, and three towns are only a few miles away from the villa for shopping and markets. There are at least 10 restaurants in easy driving distance.
The owners of Villa Etrusca are committed to making their guests feel at home in their surroundings. They will provide advice on sightseeing and restaurants, and can make special arrangements (cooking classes, wine tasting, limousine service from the airport, for example) for guests upon request. There is a cook available for an extra charge, and a First Shopping for groceries can be arranged for an extra charge. The housekeeper lives in a self-contained apartment on the first floor of the Casetta. The owners can also assist in arrangements for parties and special occasions.
