Villa Flavia is a lovely 19th Century villa with a restored hay barn located on a 35 acre working estate that contains olive groves and produces excellent olive oil. There are fabulous views of the Tuscan countryside extending from the property to the Apuan Alps and encompassing the towers of San Gimignano.
The spacious Villa interiors have been beautifully restored by the villa’s owner, a landscape architect. The large rooms have high wood-beamed ceilings and terracotta floors, creating the overall feeling of a very grand Tuscan country house. There has been a great deal of attention paid to comfort in the furnishings and amenities; the interior design is attractive and includes antique pieces and a piano.
On the first floor is a spacious main living room with a fireplace, an indoor sitting room and dining area, a courtyard that serves as an outdoor dining area, a twin bedroom (can become a double) with an ensuite bathroom, and a powder room. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, 3 ovens, a microwave, and a full-size refrigerator/freezer.
The other bedrooms are on the second floor. All have ensuite bathrooms and window screens, and four of the five have their own fireplaces. The single bedroom is in an alcove off the master bedroom.
The villa is equipped with telephone, computer with high-speed line, satellite TV, VCR, CD player/stereo, American coffeemaker, washing machine, clothes dryer, hair dryers, screens, fans in all bedrooms and independent heating.
The Hay Barn is located next to the villa. It is never rented separately, and any number of apartments in the Hay Barn can be rented along with the Villa. Il Nespolo and Il Noce are luxury double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms on the second floor. For an extra charge, they are air conditioned. Garden House 1 & 2 are on the first floor for two people each. These are small apartments with a refrigerator. They can connect, on request, to form a suite.
There is also a luxury double bedroom (Guest House) for two people with air conditioning in the Hay Barn. It may be available for an extra weekly rental price when the rest of the property is fully rented by a group. Please consult Italian Vacation Villas for details.
The air-conditioned spa facility contains fitness equipment, a sauna, and a bathroom with shower. It can also accommodate 1 or 2 people on a sofabed. There is an extra charge to use the spa and to rent it on a weekly basis.
The swimming pool (20 x 52 feet) is built as an “infinity pool” so the water cascades over the sides. The eating area, children’s swing, covered terrace and ping-pong table near the pool are ideal for families. The outdoor areas are extensive, and the gardens are filled with flowers and lovely plantings.
Villa Flavia is located between Florence and Siena. There is bus service to each city from the village.
